  1. Get a masters degree in graphic design (or related subject- some of my professors when I was getting my MFA had masters/doctorates in marketing instead, and I think I had one with a degree in fine arts when I got my BA) if you want to teach at a college level.

  2. I would recommend looking at a Community College local to you, they tend to not have the Masters degree requirement, and may often rotate teachers because a lot of them work at the same time.

  3. Most schools require you to have a master’s degree in design to teach. But it’s possible to get in without a master’s if you know someone who has a slot to fill and would rather hire someone they know than interview a bunch of strangers, so start networking.

  4. You can often teach either part-time at universities or in community colleges without a master’s or doctorate, but if you intend to teach full-time at the university level you’d need one or both. In the case of private schools it can almost be whatever they decide but most seem to fall under the part-time banner (and even may have less than 10-15 years experience *and* without a post-grad degree).

I’d suggest you just do research into the various options within the area/state you want to teach, and just look into their faculties and see what kind of credentials they have. You could even try contacting design programs and outright ask what kinds of requirements they typically require to consider someone.
