  1. There are often creative-specific recruitment agencies for any given area. Craft are great for Manchester & Leeds area. They will have a small selection of jobs in the area on display but you can also register your interest in junior positions and they may get in touch when something comes up.

It’s also worth checking websites of local agencies as they often advertise exclusively on their own website as they don’t want 5000+ CVs being auto emailed from jobhunter sites.

  2. In the Uk I would apply through Design Week, Creative Pool, The Dots, Design Jobs Board & If You Could Jobs.

Also look at Creative Review, Campaign and Eye magazine as I think they sometimes post jobs.

I would also look at creative recruiters like Major Players, Creative Recruitment, Tomorrow, Represent, We Are Peas, Aquent, Nu Creative Talent, We Love Salt, Source, Sumo etc.

It’s also worth looking at the student support section of all the major art schools, I remember UAL & UCA had a list of positions when I graduated, and I think Falmouth did as well.

  3. Apart from just different sites, make sure you’re also looking for all the relevant roles on each site.

Designer, junior designer, production artist, graphic artist, etc.

Also be sure to not just look at agencies/studios but in-house roles, as potentially *any* company might have a design department or need for a designer (ideally though you should want at least one other designer on staff to help guide you into the professional world). And don’t try to find an ideal job out of the gate, in terms of industry, personal interest, or social value. (A lot of new designers make these mistakes.)
