For context, I’m a Graphic/ Internet Designer. This was the dialog I had with the consumer after one week of pestering him to see the mockups and have the kickoff assembly. So, kindly advise me on the way to sort out this sort of scenario now or sooner or later?

if you feel harassed/disrespected by a client, either report him to the person in charge of the project or if you’re in charge, just get rid of him
with all due respect, this doesn’t seem like a big deal to me, he just said he wants an arabic man instead of a woman in the background, maybe it’s a better fit for his target audience, in his perspective and it’s not like he’s giving you tons of extra work, you just need to swap a stock photo
You always have the right to fire a client in my book. That being said, business is business, if you can get through it maybe just avoid small talk.
Advice? Ask them why they’re requesting the change.
They could be sexist, or they could understand that 90% of their target market is made up of Arabic men.
If they are sexist, and your photo choice matches the scope objectives better? Say no. You’re being hired because you’re better than the client at doing something, stand by your work.
If they’re sexist and the photo choice doesn’t match the scope objectives? Change the photo. The client’s sexism here is irrelevant to the project, because the work produced doesn’t fit the scope.
This instance alone, to me, doesn’t show the level of hostility that would make me immediately fire the client. If this were a common behavior, and the client began making inappropriate remarks regarding factors outside of the project objectives (generalizations regarding inherent attributes of a given gender/sex, specific comments regarding ability/appearance, etc) then I’d follow through on the kill clause of my contract citing inappropriate client behavior.
He is arab, to their standards he’s not sexist.
Maybe he just wants an Arab man because that’s the demographic he’s targeting.
I had something similar happen a while back. I did a design for vehicle graphics for a garbage truck, so, neon green, lettering was Chunk Five Roman (the client sent zero in terms of an actual logo), with a cartoon version of Mercury, because the place was called Junk Gods. The client got pissed when I sent the first mock-up because it was “too feminine”. They ditched us, thankfully.
Honestly, I’d get the work done and then block the asshole and obviously never work with him again. Perhaps warn people in your business niche too, so they don’t encounter the same guy
